Pat has focused on emerging markets for most of her 36-year career. Most recently, she served as Managing Director at Siguler Guff & Company, a global private equity investment firm with over $10 billion in assets under management. During her 9+ years at Siguler Guff, she built and managed the BRIC private equity business, focusing on Brazil, Russia, India, China and select frontier markets. Pat has also held positions at Cambridge Associates, British Telecommunications, Hughes Communications, RAND Corporation and the U.S. White House.
EMPEA currently serves approximately 320 member firms representing over US$1 trillion in assets under management. The organization’s membership, including fund managers, institutional investors and other industry stakeholders, share the belief that private equity investment in emerging markets can generate attractive returns to investors while creating significant value for companies, economies and communities.
Responding to her appointment, Pat said, “I am delighted to join EMPEA, having benefited greatly as a member over the past 9+ years at Siguler Guff. Through its rigorous research and analysis, EMPEA has helped to professionalize emerging markets private equity and attract significant amounts of capital to the asset class. As Chair of the Impact Investing Council, I am excited to work with EMPEA’s leadership and the dedicated group of practitioners on the Council in a pioneering effort to advance impact investing. We will seek to provide compelling evidence that innovative market-based solutions can generate attractive financial returns as well as measurable social and environmental benefits. Hopefully, this will help to unlock growth and reduce poverty, especially for the billions of emerging consumers at the bottom of the pyramid.”
EMPEA’s Impact Investing Council is comprised of leading institutional investors, investment managers and industry stakeholders whose aim is to help scale and professionalize the impact investing industry by promoting rigorous research and analysis, innovative business/cost models and shared best practices.
Robert van Zwieten, EMPEA’s President and CEO, commented further on the announcement, “We are very fortunate to have such an experienced and dedicated industry leader joining the EMPEA team. We are pleased to add Pat’s expertise in emerging markets to the leadership that helps shape EMPEA’s global programming to best address the needs of our members and the industry.”
